Yangwang U8 is a million dollar new energy off-road vehicle under BYD’s Looking Up brand.

Its length exceeds 5 meters and width exceeds 2 meters. It adopts the family style design of “Time and Space Gate” that looks up at the brand, integrating a sense of futuristic and technological elements into the overall design of the vehicle. It has a luxurious appearance and a strong and full volume, while also being avant-garde and rugged.

The new car has a more luxurious atmosphere. The central control screen adopts an embedded design, with a few physical buttons retained below. The two sides of the central control screen adopt a wing shaped line design, giving the car a more spacious visual effect. The new car will also integrate a 23.6-inch instrument screen and passenger entertainment screen, with two 12.8-inch screens in the rear, supporting 5-screen linkage.

The emergency float capability of U8 is passively triggered. When the user activates the wading mode through the central control screen and starts wading, the vehicle will monitor the wading depth, body posture, wheel slip status through sensors. If the float condition is met, the emergency float will be triggered to achieve forward and turning control of the vehicle after entering the floating state in the water. When the emergency float capability is triggered, the engine will shut down, the suspension will rise, the windows will rise, the air conditioning vents will switch to internal circulation, and the cooling fan will activate adaptive control, providing a better sealing and waterproof effect. The vehicle’s sunroof will also open, providing additional escape routes in extreme situations. The Star River curved screen inside the car will also display the water depth and vehicle posture, helping users to grasp the vehicle’s status in real time.

BYD looks up at the U8, which is equipped with the Yi Sifang technology platform. Thanks to independent control of the four motors, the U8 can achieve turning in place. It is the first mass-produced model to achieve turning in place on high, medium, and low road surfaces. It can also turn in place or rotate to a specified angle under high road conditions such as asphalt or cement, greatly improving the vehicle’s maneuverability.

The new car is equipped with the “Yi Sifang” power system, which means that the four wheels are independently driven by four motors, and each motor can independently control a single wheel. The maximum power of a single motor is 220-240kW, the maximum torque is 320-420N·m, the total power is 1197 horsepower, and it only takes 3.9 seconds from 0-100km/h. The new car is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged range extender generator, which can achieve a comprehensive range of up to 1000km (CLTC working condition). The off-road player version has up to 17+1 driving modes, which can cope with various complex off-road conditions, as well as features such as turning in place, infrared thermal imaging, and in-car satellite phone.
